The scope of this project was to design and build a new industrial treatment facility for the production waste from the manufacturing plant. An industrial MBR plant was the selected treatment process.
Motrol's scope for this project was to design, manufacture, install and commission 2 no. Form 4 MCC's for the designed treatment process.
Motrol got involved early in the design process and was able to work with the Electrical and Automation teams to identify and develop innovations that could be used on this project. One suggestion which was implemented was the use of remote I/O control panels out in the field. These panels collected I/O from all valves and instrumentation and allowed them to be sent back on a communication network to the plant PLC's. This reduced the amount of I/O in the control panels and also reduced the site installation cabling as they did not have to run back to the main control panels.
The panels contained the following equipment for the control of this site:
- Form 4 welded steel "L" shaped enclosure with ASTA certified busbar system
- Black backplate were requested by the client to aid with the use of thermal imaging equipment during routine testing
- ABB VSD's were selected on this project
- The control system included Allen Bradley Control Logics PLC and associated remote I/O (2000 discrete points)
- Supply and install an Allen Bradley RS View SCADA workstation at the treatment plant
- Provide connection to overall plant SCADA system
- Validation of plant I/O
